SunFlex New Energy has deployed a basketball-themed smart bus shelter in Zhuji, Zhejiang Province, China, integrating its flexible perovskite solar technology to support the city’s “ZheBA” basketball initiative. The shelter is equipped with SunFlex’s smart power supply solution. Thanks to the lightweight nature of flexible perovskite technology, the system can be installed directly on structures with limited load-bearing capacity, opening up new possibilities for solar-powered urban infrastructure.
The solution is expected to generate approximately 1,000 kWh of clean electricity annually, reduce carbon emissions by around 0.68 tonnes per year, and save RMB 700–800 in electricity costs annually. For bus shelters in suburban areas, tourist attractions, along newly built roads, and on islands, the system eliminates the need to break up road surfaces or lay long-distance power cables. Each shelter can save up to RMB 20,000 in grid connection and labor costs.
In 2027, SunFlex plans to introduce a fully solar-powered version of its smart power supply solution for public facilities, offering a new energy option for urban public infrastructure.
